Equipment & Readiness Guide

To ensure a safe, seamless, and successful experience on Sheep Mountain, we ask that you review the following:

**Required Equipment**
The following items are required to ensure a safe and successful experience:


Firearms & Safety

  • Gunwerks Rifle, Minimum caliber of 6.5 Creedmoor, Maximum caliber of .300 PRC (zeroed and long range data confirmed prior to arrival however, you will have the ability to quickly check zero / data on Friday)

  • Ammunition (recommended minimum: 80-100 rounds)

  • Eye protection

  • Ear protection

 

Personal Readiness

  • Cold rainy days are possible this time of year

  • Weather-appropriate clothing (layered for changing conditions)

  • Durable footwear suitable for uneven terrain (hiking boots or equivalent)

Recommended Equipment
The following items are recommended to further enhance performance and enrich your overall experience:

 

  • Shooting Equipment

  • Bipod 

  • Rear bag

  • Shooting tripod

  • Magazine(s) or ammo carrier (3 or 4 round magazines are sufficient, higher capacities are not beneficial)

  • Suppressor (If you normally shoot with one)

  • Sling

 

Optics & Ballistics Tools

  • Binoculars

  • Laser Rangefinder (You will be required to range the targets)

  • Wind meter

  • Ballistic app/device

  • Extra batteries / charging packs

 

Personal Gear

  • Lightweight jacket or windbreaker

  • Warm puffy jacket

  • Packable rain shell

  • Hat / cap

  • Gloves (weather dependent)

  • Durable pants for rugged terrain

  • Sun protection

 

Field Essentials

  • Day pack or backpack to carry your shooting gear and clothing between stations.

  • Water / hydration system

  • Sunscreen

  • Lip balm

  • Snacks

  • Small personal first aid kit

 

Additional Gear

  • Notebook 

  • Multi-tool or small repair kit

  • Camera or phone for photos

 

Travel Considerations

  • Vehicle capable of handling rugged terrain (4-wheel drive recommended) for access to Sheep Mountain however there will be an opportunity to jump in with another competitor if your vehicle isn’t capable)

 

Final Notes

  • Rifles must be properly zeroed prior to arrival

  • Safety is our top priority, please ensure all equipment is in good working order

  • Limited support will be available on-site
